Educational organizations are the ones which provide us with important services by educating large number of students for different qualifications. However, due to various reasons, the acts of violence occurring in schools threaten the wellbeing of individuals and the security of schools. Violence may lead to devastating effects on individuals, the traces of which may not be erased for long years. Therefore, it is the responsibility of societies together with schools to avoid the reasons of violence as much as possible at the school environment. The results of several researches indicate that nearly all kinds of violence can be seen at schools, and that mostly the students are exposed to violence. There exist many researches which prove that violence towards students is done by teachers, administrators, and other students of the school or by the ones outside the school setting; since the results of researches prove students can be exposed to violence in their families, too. This research is a descriptive study carried out in two different time periods, and two different settings; one in a high school in 2007, and the other at an identical high school in 2013, with the aim of exploring the causes of violence depending upon individual, family, and school factors. The views of 132 students in 2007 and 131 students in 2013 are gathered through a questionnaire, developed by the researchers. The obtained results, taking the two different research times into consideration, revealed that nearly half of the students observed violence at schools; nearly one eighth of the students were wounded due to the violence; nearly one tenth of them carried cutting and ripping tools; the violence stemmed from teachers, families, and students; and that teachers commonly exerted violence when they witnessed student disobedience. Along with the results, some recommendations are made in order to eliminate violence with the cooperation of individuals, families, school authorities and other institutions in the school settings.
