Abstract:

The rapid progress of technology, which has become an inevitable instrument of our lives, makes it more complicated to conserve national cultural components. The works of folk literature are endangered owing to these technological developments. The grandpas narrating stories and enriching the people’s imaginary world have been replaced by the television which controls the people and disables them even to imagine. In this case our oral products, especially fairy tales have been almost forgotten. We compiled fairy tales in Domaniç county of Kütahya where Ottoman Empire was founded. We found out that “Sultan’s Adopted Child” fairy tale is suitable for Propp's method. We tried to apply Propp's method on "Sultan's Adopted Child
