The aim of research is to find out the legibility levels of cursive writing of prospective teachers who will teach reading and writing their own students by using cursive in terms of inclination. space, dimension, form, line tracking. For this purpose, the department of primary school education 3. grade students’ text writing with cursive are evaluated and students’ perception about their text are taken. The sample of research is constituted by 143, 3. grade students who study in the department of primary education in 2013-2014 academic year in Erzincan University. In order to determine the sample of the research, random sampling method is used. ‘Multi-Dimensional Legibility Scale’ developed by Yıldız and Ateş (2007) is administrated to collected data. Additionally, structured interviews are conducted with students. According to results of the study, it is seen the significant differentiations in girls and boys students’ legibility levels of cursive writing. Moreover, most of students report that they do not have enough knowledge about writing with cursive writing, they have serious physical problems, they are worried about teaching with cursive in their future.
