Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a scale determining biology teacher candidate's opinions towards environmental awareness and environmental sensitivity. For this aim, at first, totally 93 scale items were prepared by reviewing relevant literature. 91 items in this scale were a five-point Likert type scale and 2 of  93 items consisted of demographic variables. The scale was applied to total of 188 biology teacher candidates from Education Faculties of Ataturk University. SPSS 17.0 Statistical Program was used to analyze the data. Item analysis studies were done though item-total correlation and reliability analyses were counted through Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient. The construct validity of the scale was verified by factor analysis. Based on this factor analysis, two factors were identified and Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient for whole test was found to be 0.921.   Keywords: biology teacher candidate, environmental awareness, environmental sensitivity, scale
