Abstract:

This research has been done for the purpose of analyzing the relevance of academic achievements of 8th grade students and the effects on teaching process of math class on the first application of TEOG exam system. Research sample was consisted of 17 math teachers of 8th grade students in 5 public and 3 private schools determined by using simple random sampling method in Silifke district of Mersin in 2013-2014 academic year. On this survey method research, semi-structured interview forms reformed by the researcher were used and themes and codes were created by being completed content analysis of data obtained through interviews. As a result of the research, 8th grade students’ TEOG achievements on math course are deem compatible with their academic achievements, according to the teachers participating in interviews. Furthermore, the opinions of the teachers, put forth that the process of math education is mainly being performed to focus on to be successful in TEOG exam.
