Matematiksel Muhakeme İle Okuduğunu Anlama Arasındaki İlişki: 8. Sınıf Örneği

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematiksel muhakeme ve okuduğunu anlama becerileri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Araştırma, Türkiye’nin bir il merkezindeki sosyo-ekonomik açıdan farklı çevrelerdeki ortaokullarında okuyan 748 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplamak amacıyla 33 sorudan oluşan Matematiksel Muhakeme Testi (MMT) ve 32 sorudan oluşan Okuduğunu Anlama Testi (OAT) geliştirilmiş ve kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin her bir testten aldıkları puanlar arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek için Pearson korelasyon katsayısı (r) hesaplanmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematiksel muhakeme ve okuduğunu anlama becerileri arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu iki beceri arasında ortaya çıkan ilişkiden hareketle, özellikle Matematik ve Türkçe gibi derslerde matematiksel muhakeme ve okuduğunu anlama becerisinin daha etkin kullanılması ve geliştirilmesi gerektiği söylenebilir.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between mathematical judgment and the skills of students of 8th grade to understand what they read. The research was carried out with the participation of 748 eighth-class students studying in secondary schools in different districts in a province center of Turkey. For the purpose of gathering data, the Mathematical Procedure Test (MMT) consisting of 33 questions and the Reading Understanding Test (OAT) consisting of 32 questions were developed and used. The Pearson correlation ratio (r) is calculated to determine the relationship between the points that students receive from each test. The results of the analysis found that there was a positive relationship between mathematical judgment and the skills of students of 8th grade to understand what they read. From the relationship that arises between these two skills, it can be said that the mathematical judgment and understanding skills should be used and developed more effectively, especially in courses such as Mathematics and Turkish.
