The aim of this study is to determine the reliability and validity of the motivation to teach scale (MTS) which was developed by Kauffman, Yılmaz Soylu and Duke (2011) on the sample of teacher candidates in Turkey. The study group of the research in general survey model consists of 342 teacher candidates who are in the education faculty of an university in the marmara region. Correlation of the English form was determined as .84 which was translated into Turkish with the contribution of domain and language experts. In order to analyze the construct validity of the scale AMOS 21.0 was used. The result of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scale exactly retains its prior structure with two dimensions and 12 items. The scale’s Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient has been found to be .92 ( X2= 136.086 (sd= 44 p= .00), X2/sd =3.10, RMSEA=0.08, NFI= 0.92, CFI= 0.94, -GFI= 0.94, -AGFI= 0.89). As a result of this study the motivation to teach scale (MTS) was determined as a reliable and valid scale in Turkey’s conditions.
