Abstract:

Tourism in modern sense that emerged after the industrial revolution is a constantly improving phenomenon, nowadays.Today, the changing social and economic structure in the world have revealed tourism as a need.This study aim is determining of local people's approach on tourism and presenting what means of tourism development for the people in Kahramanmaraş City. To achieve this aim a survey was conducted of 643 people in these two counties. The results of the survey were tested using SPSS 21 computer program.  Frequency analysis, T-Test and Varianceanalyses were carried out to evaluate the results. According to results, the women think more positively than men about the development of tourism in Kahramanmaraş. The participants thought about the effects of tourism on Kahramanmaraş varies according to level of educationbut when  the participants marital status are considered there is not any significant variation. In the light of the analyses results, to enhance the development of tourism in study area some suggestions are presented.
