This present study of aims is to investigate use and functionality of smart boards which are a part of software and hardware of FATİH project, which is a technology policy. The study was carried out pursuant to the design of case study method that is one of the qualitative research methods. Among the purposeful sampling methods, the Critical case sampling method was used in the study. In the research, observation and semi-structured interview form were used as a data collection tool. All the interviews and observations were recorded throughout the research. The recordings were computerized through the Microsoft Word processing program as raw data without being subjected to any screening. Each transcript in the research was analyzed by using line by line analysis approach. Inductive descriptive analysis, content analysis and the constant comparison technique were used in the interpretation of the observation and interview data. At the end of data analysis, two main themes were determined: The use of smart boards in history lessons, Problems experienced in the use of smart boards It was determined that the problems experienced in the use of smart boards are generally resulted from ineffectiveness of inservice trainings and insufficiency of materials supporting smart boards; in addition to these, teachers’ lack of knowledge about the use of these boards, about technology, software and hardware and insufficient pedagogical knowledge were also found to be effective in these problems.
