Mobile technologies are widely used nowadays, with leading technologies advancements and associated price drops. The fact that users are getting heavily interested in this rich form of technology proves promising for universities in increasing their impact within the educational system. With that in mind, current study aims to explore whether universities are ever present in the application market, and if so, in what way. A qualitative research methodology, the document analysis technique, was utilised throughout the study. In order to analyse the properties of present university mobile applications, the inclusion criterion was set to be the applications compatible with “Android Operating Systems”. Results indicate a low profile, with only 4 percent official presence amongst the universities partaking. With regards to the storage sizes they run on, there is a great variety from low to high configuration systems. User rates reveal 3.8-4.6 points of likeability over point 5. Finally, most of these applications feature sections including “announcements”, “activity-event calendar”, “student information board”, “food menu”, “news” and so on.
