The human behavioral typology, which is accepted as an assumption by the mainstream economics is severely criticized by many intellectuals. The mentioned typology of homo economicus considers human being as an entity that makes rational choices when faced with scarcity and behaves towards the establishment of a social order within the framework of market mechanism. However, thinkers such as Karl Polanyi and Thorstein Veblen do not accept such an attitude and emphasize that human being has two different aspects, both as an individual and as a social entity. Therefore, contrary to the mainstream economics’ rational individual, human being experiences an inner conflict due to these two different peculiarities and thus displays almost neurotic behaviours. This approach puts forward that a homo duplex typology could be envisaged through Durkheim’s proposition. Yet, it should be underlined at this point that the so-called homo duplex has two dimensions : real and ideal. In this context, this ideal type finds its roots in the human being that experiences Plato’s partition between Body and Soul. It should also be researched that this approach could easily lead to an impasse of normative and metaphysical discussions. Although this attitude cannot be defined as falsifiable, it can be used as a regulative idea aiming at arranging the world of thoughts in order to take advantage at least of his analytical character.
