En temel iletişim aracı olarak dil, toplumsal bir yapı içerisinde şekillenerek anlam kazanır. Birey, ailesinden ve çevresinden kazandığı dili okul aracılığıyla geliştirir. Eğitim sürecinin ayrılmaz bir parçası olan öğretmen-öğrenci ilişkileri aynı zamanda sınıf içi iletişimin deönemli iki ögesidir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf ortamında öğretmen tarafından gerçekleştirilen sözel üretimin öğrenci tarafından nasıl karşılandığını saptamaktır. Araştırma nitel araştırmaya bağlı olarak durum çalışması desenine göre yapılmıştır. Araştırma, İzmir Millî Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı okulların 5. sınıflarında öğrenim gören 57 erkek, 45 kız toplam 102 katılımcı öğrenciyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılara “Öğretmeniniz size ne gibi sözler söylediğinde derse karşı ilginiz artıyor?” ve “Öğretmeniniz size ne gibi sözler söylediğinde derse karşı ilginiz azalıyor?” biçiminde sorular yöneltilmiştir. Katılımcılardan verilen sorulara yazarak yanıt vermeleri istenmiştir. Bu araştırmadan çıkan sonuçlar, öğretmenlerin sınıfta kullandığı dilin öğrencilerde olumlu ve olumsuz yanlarını ortaya koymaktadır.
