Abstract The present study aims to analyse the relationship between life satisfaction and functions of identity among university students, and it further investigates the predictive role of identity functions on life satisfaction. The participants were 253 undergraduates from various departments of Istanbul University, Hasan Ali Yücel Faculty of Education. Correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted to investigate the data. The results of the regression analysis revealed that functions of identity, namely structure, goals, future, harmony and control, all together predict the 28% of life satisfaction scores among young people.
