Abstract The concept "geneorisity" (fütüvvet) comes from the word "feta" which means young. İn Kor'an the word "feta" is used for not only "brave" (yiğit) (as we mentiioned in this work) which means 'having high qualities'; but also an ordinary young person. However, this concept includes much more meanings than its dictionary meaning. During a long period, it has become a deep ocean of meanings with the help of Kor'an and Sunnah among the İslamic societies. Therefore the concept "geneorisity" means: self-denial, generosity, sincerity, friendship, protecting the others' rights, being fair to everybody, having mellifluence, avoiding from extravagancy, staying away from hostility and being tolerant to the whole world. Moreover in Turkish society this concept has a big role in the formation of an institutional system called "ahilik" which reflects the mentioned qualities in the previous paragraph.
