Özet:

Solid waste problem appeared with settled life and has growed with industrialization, urbanization, increasing population and economic development. It has caused to environmental problems. Solid waste management is changing gradually according to countries' characteristics. In Turkey, solid waste management is realized by municipalities within the scope of local governments. The aim of this study is to determine the solid waste management issues of province municipalities in Turkey. In this study, solid waste service, solid waste approaches of municipalities', and thoughts about this subject of municipalities' are examined by inquery method. Findings which are avaible from this research show that the importance of solid waste management haven't been understood yet and workings about this subject are at the beginning level. And these findings indicate that with understanding the importance of solid waste management, sustainability of solid waste management will be realized.
