Abstract In this study, some kitsch trends seen in cinema and graphic design and origins of those trends are examined. Taking into account the development trend of Kitsch in the arts heavily consumed and popular, the importance and popularity that graphics and cinema gained today is especially focused on. Then the relationship between graphic design and film are discussed. After that, movie posters, one of the meeting points of those two arts are examined. In this examination, general aspects of posters and kitsch elements they have are discussed briefly. In this context, the general properties and the structure of kitsch are discussed and the general effects of the kitsch on the art are investigated. This study is prepared on the assumption that elimination of Kitsch concept in the art and the bargains and ugliness coming with it relies on understanding the conditions bringing out Kitsch.
