Abstract:

Bergama Peasant Movement starting almost at the same time with observing global social movements in the world in the early 1990’s, is critically important in terms of the history and current position of social movements in Turkey. When views of social movements in our country, organization structures, continuities, and especially structure of activists are taken into consideration, the difference in Bergama Movement arises spontaneously. The effect on both media and social movement family from the beginning of the movement provides the movement to be accepted by mass in both in Turkey and around the World as legitimate. With nonviolent action style, Bergama villagers were successful to reach their voices to the whole world. Because of this success, this movement is accepted as a leading movement when compared with the other movement using violence, coercion and force and it is interested / supported by many people. This movement is accepted as the most known and accepted movement among the movements in the history of Republic
