Abstract:

This study aims to identify the epistemological beliefs of the university's teacher candidate. In accordance with this general objective, it has been studied whether the epistemological beliefs of the students, the epistemological beliefs of the students, the class level, gender, and the variables of the section they are reading, show a significant difference. This research was done by the karma method where quantum and qualitative methods were used together. The scale was applied before the chosen work group, a group of participants from the work group had a semi-configured conversation. The research work group consists of a total of 280 students who are studying in the Education-Teaching Department of the Century University School of Education in the 2012-2013 educational year, science knowledge teaching and physics teaching. The data of the study was collected using the "Epistemological Faith Scale" developed by Schommer (1990) and adapted to Turkish by Tüzün and Gunçu (2008). There was also an individual meeting with a group of 24 people. The research finds that the epistemological beliefs of the teacher candidates are undeveloped and their views are unchanged according to the variables of division, class and gender, and that there is no change in the epistemological beliefs of the students during the university study.
