The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of educational games on developing mental lexicon of the 4th grade primary school students. This research was designed with a semi-experimental model. The study group of the study constitutes 36 4th grade students who were studying at Budakdüzü primary school in Bartın province in the second half of 2016-2017 academic year. The "Vocabulary Knowledge Scale" developed by Wesche and Paribakht (1996) and adapted to Turkish by İlter (2015) was used as data collection tool in the research. In the analysis of the research data, arithmetic mean, frequency, percent, Mann Whitney U test was used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group students who had been taught vocabulary with educational games in favor of post-test scores. The results of this study show that the vocabulary teaching activities carried out by educational games have a positive effect on the development of mental lexicons of students.
