Bu çalışmanın amacı, 4 ve 5. sınıfları okutmakta olan sınıf öğretmenlerinin fen ve teknoloji dersinde kullandıkları öğretim yöntem ve tekniklere ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Çalışmaya, Mersin ilinde bulunan ilköğretim okulunda 2009-2010 öğretim yılında görev yapmakta olan 36 sınıf öğretmeni katılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında, araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan açık uçlu soru formu kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların seçiminde kıdem yılı, cinsiyet ve mezun oldukları lisans düzeyleri göz önünde bulundurulmuştur. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada fen ve teknoloji dersinde sınıf öğretmenlerinin ortalama 5 öğretim yöntemi kullandıkları;çok deney, anlatım ve soru cevap yöntemlerini tercih ettikleri; yöntem seçiminde kalıcı öğrenmeyi sağlama özelliğinin arandığı; deney yönteminin bazı öğretmenlerce kullanılmak istenmesine rağmen kullanılamadığı; derste kullanılmayan yöntemlerin okulun fiziki imkânlarının yetersizliği nedeniyle kullanılamadığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda sınıf öğretmenlerinin fen ve teknoloji dersi için öğretim yöntemleri konusunda hizmet içi eğitime alınması önerisinde bulunulmuştur
The aim of this study is to identify the views of class teachers in classes 4 and 5 on the teaching methods and techniques they use in the course of science and technology. The study was attended by 36 class teachers who worked in the 2009-2010 academic year at the Primary School in Mersin Province. In the collection of data, the open-end question form prepared by the researchers was used. The selection of participants took into account the age, gender and degree levels they graduated from. In the analysis of the data obtained, the visual analysis method was used. The study found that class teachers used an average of 5 teaching methods in the course of science and technology; they prefer many experimentation, narration and question response methods; the ability to ensure permanent learning in the choice of methods; the method of experimentation was not used despite the desire of some teachers; the results were found that the methods not used in the course were not used due to the lack of physical possibilities of the school. At the end of the study, it was suggested that classmates should be trained in service on teaching methods for science and technology courses.
