Abstract:

There are a number of factors that influence the crime in social life. The economic situation and poverty are at the forefront of the elements that have a great impact on crime. Many sociologists, criminologists and economists recognize that there is an effective relationship between crime and poverty. From this point of view, the crime that enters the field of interest of all social sciences is a very important fact, especially in terms of its causes and consequences, that the economic dimension cannot be neglected. But this study suggested that, instead of a clear causal relationship between crime and poverty, poverty has a positive impact on crime processing. In order to reveal the relationship between the crime and poverty in this minval, Elazığ Province's poverty map has moved from the survey work with 29 individuals who have previously entered prison for various crimes, known as the poor in Aksaray, Hicret and Industrial Neighborhood. On the other hand, the observations obtained in the field have been effective in the formation of the work. Individuals were asked questions about their general situation, crimes they committed, and their economic situation before and after entering the prison. The data obtained is intended to interpret and determine the relationship between poverty and crime.
