19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında yeni bir anlayışla orduların ihtiyacının kendi içinde birlikler düzeyinde kurulan askeri terzihaneler aracılığıyla karşılanması hedeflenmiş ve ilk atölyeler kurulmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Osmanlı Devleti askerlerin ve sarayın iaşe ve sair ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak için tesis edilen imalathanelerden biri olan terzi atölyelerinin üretiminin ve organizasyonunun genel anlayışı ele alınmaktadır. Akabinde birinci ordu bünyesinde tesis edilen terzi atölyesinin kuruluş süreci ayrıntılı olarak incelenmektedir.
