Meaning Relations in Irony Frame and The Humorous Language in Ayşe Kilimci’s Stories

Abstract enThis study aims at uncovering humorous language in Ayşe Kilimci’s stories as well as removing ambiguity in concept of irony in a humble manner. Irony, comprehended as a literary art, a literary genre, a point of view, temperament or taste at times, has an elaborate set of relationship implicitly or explicitly with a broad context of simile, allusion, double-entendre, tecâhül-i ârif, metaphor, allegory, fable, parody, anecdode, satire, humor, antithesis and hyperbole in terms of reffering to implicit meaning. When it comes to irony, with the impact of several disciplines as philosophy, psychology, mythology and art etc., extension of meaning is on the carpet especially following a line from negative to positive pole diachronically. The irony is a natural reflection of a temperament, a perspective rather than a conscious choice. Having an humorous language is a tendency coming from creation. More or less, an humorous attitude in each human is the subject. While this attitude happens the dominant element of expressing themselves, in a style in the direction of ones’ temperament tendency, it stays as a flavor degree in others. An evaluation both for criticizing and criticized is the subject in an humorous criticism. The criticizing reduces the reaction the least that he may face attracting his interlocutor to humor floor because he loads the meaning in reverse. The criticized is also able to see the point he criticized healthier because his anger is isolated by coming up humor element. This study focuses on what irony is comprised of, its interrelatedness with literary art, genre and expression, and it ascertains humorous elements in Ayşe Kilimci’s stories.
