The character's function heginning with the epic form has strenghtened 1177/7 the rising of the novel form, risen at the top level through Balzac, lost its importance increasingly through Gide, Proust, Giano, and Camus, and has been replaced by objects together with the new novel ad\>enture. The novel's narration tecimi ques have also been developed depending on the progress and transformation in the world. The characters in the eighteenth century novel who are philosophic types, tıırn the ir attention to nature and are interested in sentimental and unattainable love. in the nineteenth century, they have become more realistle in the works of the aıılhors. The authors in the twentieth century have questioned man 'splace in the universe as a rasıılt of the Two IVorld Wars and they have believed the nrcessity of redealing with the funetions of the novel characters.
