Abstract:

Abstract enIn last years with various works done to synthesis psychological learning theories with episthemology. In addition to these studies many tools to investigate the changes in the informatics field. The most important one of these is the concept map (Novak and Gowin, 1984). These developed concept map were accepted by many teachers all around the world and the teachers adopted them into their topics to make children comprehend the concepts. By way of investigating the concept map built by students. It can be determined their information and structural complexities which they built in their memories. Concept map is a tool to help to build the information again and to help to investigate the structural changes.Ruiz, Prima and Shavelson(1996) declared that much more work should be done dealing with the usage of the concept map. In this study concept map should be used in the class environment practically as a tool of evaluating and educating. The purpose of this study is to reveal how the teachers can use the concept map to understood how the students restructure the knowledge in their memories. To achieve this goal the concepts of cell and protein were chosen and during a whole season students were got to make 4 different concept maps and then students’ development was investigated on these concepts, 80 students taking Biology I lesson in the Atatürk Education Faculty Primary Education department, Science Education section constitute the sample group of the investigation. At the end of the study, it is viewed that students’ knowledge can be evaluated much more clearly by concept map with regard to other measurement tools.
