Abstract enLeisure activities is a part of education, a kind of experience and a way of satisfaction. It is a subject to be dealt with seriously throughout all age periods. However, it plays a vital role in terms of university life that is considered as a transition period during which the individual personality developments are completed to a great extent and adult models are shaped. The aim of this study is to determine the preferences of Pamukkale University students for leisure activities, mates and places with the help of variables such as sex, income and parents education. For this purpose a field research has been carried out in 401 students of four faculties of Pamukkale University between May 1996 and July 1996. The results obtained show the fact that university students prefer passive leisure activities. The most preferred leisure activities are reading and listening to music. They are interested in sports mostly as spectators. It is observed that university students prefer participating in leisure activities with their friend groups. In this study the relationship between the education level of parents and orientating their children to choose leisure activities has been analyzed. It has been observed that participation rate in leisure activities is higher in well-educated families.
