Abstract enSince the ancient times, Eastern Black Sea was not open the mass migration. However, the region was an open area in terms of external transport. There are a few bays with safe harbor property along the shore line. Araklı bay was a most suitable area where was used as a harbor. Region which was called Hyssus in Roman period is called as Araklı harbor to today. From ancient times to the 21st century, paraskalmio-çapar boat which was unique to the Black Sea used to carry cargo and people between Hyssus harbor and other harbours of the region. In the present study, the historical changes of Hyssus Castle-Harbour and çapar boats were examined
