Abstract:

Abstract enThis study was conducted to determine science and technology teachers’ views on the removal of the level determination exam (SBS). In the present study, survey method was used with open-ended questionnaire to collect data. The sampling of the study consisted of 51science and technology teachers attending from Giresun city in 2012-2013 academic year. Special case method was used in this study. Content analysis was employed to the data. The results were obtained from the open-ended questionnaire. Many of the teachers involved in the study have opposed the abolition of the examination. It also stated by teachers that there will be difficulties in placing students in schools if the exam is removed. On the other hand science and technology teachers have worries due to changes in exam types. Teachers stated that this may cause students to loose confidence, have less motivation, pessimisim, worry about their future, and adaptation issues.
