Abstract:

A writer who left his mark in the Turkish Literature of the Republican Period, and a prolihc artist who produced works virtually in every field of literature. He gave his support to the War of Independence through his writings, and worked as a member of parliament and a diplomat for a long time. Bom into an aristocratic family, Jacob Kadri spent his childhood in a palace in Egypt. His being a nobleman, his educational background, and his having good knowledge,, of the westem culture make itself apparent in his works. As is known, Yakup Kadri in his novel The Stranger has a pessimistic view of the village life and the peasants. This study examines how Yakup Kadri views the village, the peasants and the general public in his other works.
