Abstract enEstablished with a collaboration between the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the “Project to Advance Human Resources through Education” (IKMEP) prepared new lesson plans for 52 programs, and with a decision taken by the YÖK these new curricula would be applied as of the 2010 – 2011 academic year. The aim of this paper is to determine how closely the Electric Program of the Vocational Schools (MYO) accord with the IKMEP programs. To this end, the curricula of 109 MYO were examined and then compared with the IKMEP lesson plans. While, generally speaking, it was found that the MYOs' programs are compatible with those of IKMEP, it was noted that the curricula of some of the MYO did not include courses that is fundamental to the profession of electric technician. It was also noted that the majority of the MYO did not include training in a foreign language, computer applications, work safety, professional ethics, first aid. The results of this study indicate that the MYOs should reevaluate the course of studies and revise their plans
