Abstract enThis study aimed to determine the attitudes of university students towards reading habits and the factors which influence those attitudes. A total number of 131 students from Ankara University Kalecik Vocational School, 38 of which were males and 93 of which were females, were included in this study. A 23-question survey was conducted among the students. It was determined that the 56% of the female students and the 37% of male students like reading. It was seen in the study that that the female students have more positive attitude towards reading habits than male students. The 77% of the students stated that the selfwillingness is most important to acquire reading habit. The 43% of the students surveyed stated that their friends read more than their parents. The 54% of the students choose their books by following the best-selling list, whereas the 69% of them have no preference between native or foreign writers.
