Abstract:

The aim of this research is to observe the point of views and the perception of art-self of the students who are studying at  the department of Fine Art Education and  Art- Craft. LoVette has stated that in order for schools to be able to succeed, teachers are to focus on self-conception(1997:303). According to the above-mentioned scholar, there is a positive correlation between the students’ self-conception and their success rate at school. However, according to Başaran(1996:114) a member of any profession is obliged to believe in what the profession necessiates, have a knowledge of  it and carry it out accordingly to gain satisfaction in his job. Positive attitudes and views towards the job are more pivotal for the teacher candidate. It is also an indicator for the teacher canditates  that they  have a  point of view towards art and artistic events, perform artistic activities, and believe in what their profession requires. The students who studied Art-Craft in the education faculty of Fine Arts  and Education at Adnan Menderes University  take participation in the working group of the research. Within the research, the concept of artistic self  has been evaluated by Oğuz Duran Tezer’s Art- Self Concept scale (SBKÖ) (2005), also his views upon arts have been evaluated by the survey of the subjects on Art and Artist ( SKDA). In the analysis of the research data, depending on the related research questions and the variance of the data, frequency and percentage distribution, descriptive statistics, t test , χ² test have been used
