Abstract:

The Internet presents a vaste amount of means for information seeking. This feature gains importance in fast paced periods like election terms. The Internet has become an important communication environment both during the election period and after elections on account of political parties‟ communication to their elecrorates. Political issues have a large place in web pages. The study, along with the research findings, is aimed at identifying the relationship between politics and web pages. Finally, websites of the top four parties (The Justice and Development Party, CHP, MHP, BDP) in the 11th of June 2011 elections would be discussed. A comparative analysis would be carried out in order to determine how they reach the electors from their webpages before the 30 March 2014 elections. Content analysis is performed on this study and it is noted that the web pages have similar features in terms of political communication functions.However, differences are observed in some subjects. Political party web pages are evaluated in terms of functionality and design functions. As a result, it is reached that the web pages are more effectively used in terms of the presentation of information especially and participation functions of political parties.
