Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter have changed the way we share information on the internet. Since it is possible to share instantly, especially the youth wants to send anything that comes to their mind instantly to their followers. But this instant nature of the sharing in social media and the need to get liked by followers causes them to share information without thinking through. The belief that the privacy settings of social media sites can hide all these information may result in cases that end in the court. In this study we have conducted a survey on 145 Selcuk University Communication Faculty students to examine the perspectives of youth about the privacy on Facebook. According to the data gathered, the participants are aware of some risks involved with sharing on Facebook, but they are not aware of the scope or source of the risks. They believe that the post that they share can be viewed only by the people in their friends list. It is also found that male participants suffer from negative consequences more than female participants
