Abstract:

In the global financial system, investors who want to evaluate their investments correctly want to have a "true" knowledge before investing. International credit rating organizations, securities, commercial companies, financial institutions, banks and countries are organizations that make and share their assessments with the public. These organizations shall evaluate the risk conditions of the various investment instruments and give notes that represent certain levels of risk as a result of their evaluation. These ratings provided by credit rating agencies are effective in the decision-making of investors. Investors want credit rating agencies to be properly proportionate to the rates they give for investment instruments, but in recent period credit rating agencies are often criticized for the reasons they have misleading the investor as a result of their failure to predict crises and bankruptcy, they have rapidly reduced the rating and caused the crisis to feel deeper, they have damaged those companies, countries and investors. This study will address the importance of credit rating agencies, three major credit rating agencies and unpredictable crises and bankruptcies.
