Honaz region has been a settlement place since antiquity. It is during Ottoman era in the 20th century that the name of “Hisar neighborhood” firstly encountered in Honaz. This neighborhood, where Turks lived and situated within the down castle, in the south of Honaz castle, is Hisar neighborhood. It is later understood that this neighborhood remained within the borders of Haydar neighborhood. This place which is known as ‘Asar’ today, remained within the borders of newly founded “Yeni Mahalle” Hisar neighborhood, which is the basis our study, is not this neighborhood. It is the neighborhood where Greeks lived and named as ‘Cemaat-i Kefere’, ‘Gebran’ in Ottoman sources and later took the name of “Hisar neighborhood”.
