When the Prophet was alive problems were solved by him. Because revelation was continuing. In the next period of the Prophet’s demise, the companions of him applied to Qur’an and Sunnah to solve problems. When they couldn’t find the solutions their problems they applied to “rey” ijtihad in accordance with the spirit of Islam. Intensive discussions took place about evidentiary value of syllogism. Those who accepted the evidentiory of syllogism and their opponent based their opinions on wisdom and revelation. The value of syllogism were discussed by Mu’tezilite that commented shairah mentally. While most of scholars members of Mu’tezilite accepted syllogism some of them –firstly İbrahim b. Seyyar en-Nazzâm who were from Bağdad- claimed that syllogism wasn’t be able to be a method for bringing out judgment. This article deals with the discussions of the evidentiory value of syllogism at Mu’tezilite.
