Folk songs directly reflect the thoughts and feelings of the people of Anatolia; they are passed on from generation to generation, and are wholeheartedly embraced by the Anatolian people. These works, that are common in their daily life, are a valuable resource for cultural studies. It is possible that one can have an idea about the people of a region by their folk songs. This study is focused on folk songs that belong to nine cities in the Aegean region in TRT Folk Music Repertoire. In the Aegean region, within the framework of folk songs, the attire and veiling issue is discussed. Dress is a human necessity, thus having an important place in ones’ everyday life. Ones’ selected attire provides information about their life and their world view. Religious beliefs are one of the determining factors when choosing attire. Most of the attire mentioned in the Aegean folk songs belong to women, and resemble the traditional Anatolian outfit. By examining folk songs, it can be said that the veil is part of the Aegean women’s lives
