This study includes transcription and contextual analysis of a specific preface which is found in the translated editions of Tefsîru’l-Kur’ân into Anatolian Turkish from its original text written by Ebu’l-Leys es-Semerkandî in Arabic. The preface does not exist in the original text, Tefsîru’lKur’ân that is a commentary by Ebu’l-Leys. Thus, it is not a translation but has authenticity, which is of considerable importance for religious sciences mostly Sufism and Exegesis of the Quran as well as Turkish studies. The preface most likely to be composed by Mûsâ el-İznikî is in Anatolian Turkish from 15th century, which makes the relevant analysis and research noteworthy since this task has not been undertaken by any academic authorities so far. Therefore publication of the preface’s transcription has been intended as its promotion to the realm of social sciences. First of all, an introduction regarding the main qualities of the preface is presented followed by the examination of criteria adopted for transcribing the text. As a final step, the transcribed text is offered. The necessary background information for characters, incidents and tales taking place throughout the text are demonstrated within keynotes. Moreover, this study endeavors to determine the original form of the text by comparison the to the other existing copies of the preface and accounts in the original text. Lastly, this study is finalized with a conclusion
