In this study, the situation of the forestry sector in the Turkish national economy is investigated on the basis of the national industry-by-industry Flow (Transactions) Table derived from the national Use Table, Supply Table and Imports Matrix. All of these matrices or tables are the constituents of the national input-output (I-O) model or structure. Findings of the descriptive I-0 analysis of forestry sector reveal the place, contribution and weight of the sector in the national I-0 structure. They also show the types of the sector's inputs and the destinations of the sector's outputs. All these descriptive findings are based on the current definition and scope of the forestry sector. Nonetheless, intemalization in the national accounts of public and environmental functions (services) of forest resources would help bring out the importance of these resources in the national economy more comprehensively. At this point, the issue of nonmarket valuation arises. Yet in Turkey, despite several important studies to date, especially the application of valuation is admittedly at the primary stage.
