The purpose of this study is to describe parent-teacher communication styles at primary school first grade by socio-economic status of family. Study group consisted of 100 first grader teachers, 108 families from low socio-economic status group and 236 families from high socio-economic status group living in Balıkesir metropolitan area. A questionnaire developed by researcher was used to gather data. Data were summarized by tabulating frequencies and percentages. Findings indicated that low socio-economic status parents communicate with teacher through students and show hesitation to visit schools. When parents visit schools, frequency of this visits are irregular and there is no defined location or length of visit. Low socio-economic status parents attend parent-teacher meetings to inquire about their child's grades. In contrast to low socio-economic status parents, high socio-economic status parents communicate with teacher by phone and also through students. High socio-economic status parents and teachers exchange home visits. They inquire information form teacher about social activities in school as well as their child's participation in instructional activities and child's relationship with peers.
