Economic growth and the differences in the growth rates among countries are popular subjects for both politicians and economists for long decades. Growth rate is one of the main indicators for the economic development. On that aspect, it is crucial to determine the components of the economic growth in developed countries to find out how they succeed to reach that growth rates. And also the sustainability in growth is another very important topic to be discussed. Considering the dynamic changes in the world economy and the competition in the markets leads the changes in the determinants of the economic growth. In this study it is aimed to investigate the effect of R&D expenditures on economic growth. In order to evaluate the possible effects, Industry Production Index and the portion of R&D expenditures in GDP are considered as variables for the period 2005-2015. The empirical test results support causality from R&D expenditures to economic growth.
