This study is aimed to reveal social studies teachers’ method applied in Social Studies course and their reasons for choosing these methods for realization of geographic gains. In this qualitative research pattern study, the participants were selected among the teachers of social studies. The research data consists of a total of 12 questions were obtained by semi-structured interview form. For the development and delivery of the final version of the form expert opinion was utilized. The participants were selected among the working teachers at a total of 12 secondary school in center of Manisa at the academic year 2012-2013. In this context, research was made with a total of 30 Social Studies teachers; including 16 of them where the students were from lower socio-economic groups, eight were medium and 6 in the upper socioeconomic groups of the study, 8 medium and 6, including the upper socioeconomic group. The obtained data are compared based on socio-economic status of schools and teachers’ the graduation field variables. In general, the graduation field and socio-economic status of school variables are found to impact on the selection of the methods applied for geography subjects in Social Studies course.
