The purpose of this study is to explore how teachers use computers in their classrooms and how they perceive the use of computers in teaching. The sample consisted of 173 teachers at 10 primary and 10 secondary schools in Ankara and Çanakkale. The data were collected through an instrument comprising 55 questions in five categories. These categories were (a) professional attitude towards computer technology, (b) teaching styles and teachers' background with computers, c) Experience with computer technology, (d) technology integration process, and (e) additional comments. A 6-point likert-type scale was used in the instrument. In addition to descriptive statistics, chi-square, t-tests, correlations and cronbach alpha were used. In order to test reliability, Cronbach Alpha internal consistency was used. A medium positive correlation was found between teachers' personal use of computers and their computer use in classrooms. The results of the study have revealed that the number of computers should be increased and at least one computer and projection or datashow should be present in classrooms so that teachers can use their presentation and course materials. The results have also indicated that teachers are in need of more in-service training courses and schools need technical support.
