Bu çalışmanın amacı coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının doğal afetlerle ilgili bazı kavramlar hakkındaki bilişsel yapılarını Kelime İlişkilendirme Testi (KİT) kullanarak tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini, 2015-2016 öğretim yılında Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Eğitim Fakültesi, Coğrafya Öğretmenliği 5. sınıfta öğrenim gören 34 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Toprak Erozyonu, Heyelan, Kuraklık ve Sel sözcükleri anahtar kavramlar olarak seçilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz tekniklerinden olan frekans hesabı kullanılmıştır. Her bir anahtar kavram bir kağıda 10 kez alt alta yazılmış ve öğretmen adaylarının bu anahtar kavramların zihinlerinde çağrıştırdığı kelimeleri 30 saniye içerisinde yazmaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler incelenerek, anahtar kavram ve cevap kelimelerden oluşan bir frekans tablosu oluşturulmuştur. Kavramlara ilişkin elde edilen sözcükler ayrıntılı olarak incelenmiş, tekrarlanan sözcükler dikkate alınarak belirlenen kesme noktaları doğrultusunda kavram ağları oluşturulmuştur. Ayrıca her bir kelimeye yönelik olarak öğretmen adaylarının kurdukları ilgili cümleler özelliklerine göre sınıflandırılarak analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak elde edilen veriler değerlendirildiğinde öğretmen adaylarının sel, kuraklık, heyelan ve erozyon konularına ilişkin kavramsal bilgiye sahip oldukları ancak bu bilgilerin yeterli düzeyde olmadığı görülmektedir. Cümle örnekleri incelendiğinde anahtar kavramlarla ilgili, bilimsel bilgi içeren cümle örneklerinin daha fazla olduğu, ancak bazı bilimsel olmayan ve kavram yanılgısı içeren cümle örneklerinin de olduğu görülmektedir.
The aim of this study is to identify the cognitive structures of geography teachers candidates about certain concepts related to natural disasters using the Word Relationship Test (KIT). The examples of the study are made up of 34 teachers candidates who studied in the 2015-2016 academic year at Necmettin Erbakan University, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty, Geography Teaching 5th grade. In this study, land erosion, humidity, drought and flood words have been chosen as key concepts. In the analysis of data, the frequency calculation of the visual analysis techniques was used. Each key concept is written 10 times on a paper, and the teacher candidates are asked to write the words that these key concepts call in their minds within 30 seconds. By studying the obtained data, a frequency table consisting of keywords and response words was created. The words obtained in relation to the concepts have been thoroughly studied, the repeated words have been created according to the cutting points determined. It was also analyzed by classification according to the characteristics of the relevant phrases created by the teacher candidates for each word. When the results are assessed, the teacher candidates have conceptual knowledge about the subjects of flood, drought, heil and erosion, but this information is not sufficient. When the examples of sentences are studied, there are more examples of sentences with scientific knowledge related to key concepts, but there are also some non-scientific and sentences with conceptual errors.
