Özet:

The interaction between nature and human being that reflects on space is one of the essential issues of geography. Although the study of geography has been divided into physical geography and human geography, the studies of relative geographies and hybrid geographies attempt to transcend dualisms such as nature and human in recent years. In this context, space is discussed as intertwined with dualistic concepts such as subject/object, individual/society, nature/human. Land is quite significant for humankind for there is a mutual relationship between the two. The region of Cappadocia, which has several excavated settlements such as underground cities in historical period due to easy-to-dig and unusual geological formation, is one of the remarkable example, illustrating such a relationship. Most of the houses in this region have cellars excavated in land. Today, the interaction between nature and human has gained new dimensions with the natural and commercial cooled underground warehouse that has been used for storage for agricultural production such as lemon and potato. The aim of this presentation is to indicate the 'natural and commercial cooled underground warehouses', located in the town of Kavak, in Nevşehir, Turkey, as a place that combines dualistic concepts such as global/local, natural/cultural. To this end, in this presentation, the techniques of direct observation, participant observation and semi-structured interview which was conducted with 20 participants are employed.
