This study aims to deal with the social and economic status of Armenians who were the citizens of Ottoman Empire and lived together with Muslims in Çarşamba and Yaykıl towns of Sinop in Anatolia at the time. During the period under examination, the Armenians lived together with the Muslims in three villages within two counties same towns and nearly had the same social and economic status with them. This study is based upon the Temettuat books/records that were kept in the cities where Tanzimat was practised and created after the Temettuat enumeration in Sinop from the mid-19th century
