Clothing is one of the most important elements displaying national traits and indigenous characteristics of peoples’ religion and culture. Research in this field of study can decipher the signs of changes in such traditions up to day, which are still of consideration at regional level. This paper, therefore, focuses on clothing style and its relevant ties with culture concerning historical indications within the background of the 18thcentury. Trabzon, considering its status as a pivotal regional port, is observed to have played a vital commercial role alongside with the transportation circulation at the time. Accordingly, the local clothing style and its folkloric indications in Trabzon differ from that of the courtiers as it is observed in legacy registers, which provide us with important historical information. Legacy records such as legacy registers (Taraka) were the books which recorded the prices and numbers in detail under the authorization of the Kadı, one of the chief judicial authorities serving as the notary. Therefore, this paper, investigating and surveying the aforementioned records, elaborates on 18th century Trabzon clothing style of male and female residents in the area and their clothing culture
