One of the two goals of this study is to investigate relationship between emotional intelligence and perception of problem solving skill and the other is to gather some data for the theories which are using information processing approach to explain the emotional Intelligence. The sample consisted of 225 students (undergraduated and master-without thesis) from the Istanbul University. EQ-NED (Ergin, İşmen, Özabacı, 1999) was applied to sample group to determine their emotional intelligence and Problem Solving Inventory (Heppner ve Petersen 1982) was applied to determine perception of problem solving skill. The relationship between problem solving skill and Emotional intelligence was investigated by using Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficent Techniques. The results were as follows; regarding the EQ-NED and Problem Solving Inventory there was no significant difference between younger (19 year olds and below) and older (26 year olds and above). There was significant difference between female and male’s emotional intelligence scores. Female’s score in total and 3 subscales was significantly higher than male’s score. And significant positive correlation was found between Emotional Intelligence levels and perception of problem solving skill. Keywords: Emotional Intelligence, Intelligence, Problem Solving
