Çağdaş Sanatın gelişimi, Batının yüzlerce yıllık geçmişine karşın, Ülkemizde, yaklaşık yüz-yüz elli yıllık bir sürece sahiptir. Buna rağmen, günümüzde, Türk Sanatının geldiği nokta hiç de küçümsenemeyecek bir seviyeye ulaşmıştır. Ülkemizde, uluslararası düzeyde tanınan birçok sanatçı ve düşünür yetişmiştir. Ancak, bütün bu gelişmelere rağmen, Türk Sanatı, henüz uluslararası düzeyde hak ettiği yere gelememiş; sanatçılarımız, uluslararası düzeyde bir “başyapıt” ortaya koyamamışlardır.   Ülkemizde, sanatsal etkinliklerin ve sanat eğitimi veren kurumların, yakın bir geçmişe kadar, Ankara, İstanbul ve İzmir gibi büyük şehirlerle sınırlı olması, sanat adamlarının ülke kültürünün taşıyıcısı olan Anadolu’ya yeterince ilgi duymamalarına, kendi köklerinden yeterince beslenememelerine, kendi kültürleriyle yeterli etkileşime girememelerine yol açmıştır. Sanat etkinliklerinin ve sanat eğitimi veren kurumların artık Anadolu’nun birçok kentine yayılıyor olmasıyla, Anadolu ile İstanbul ve Batı arasında yeni bir köprü, yeni bir etkileşim kurulacağına, bunun sonucunda da, Türk Sanatının uluslararası düzeyde gelişiminin yeni bir ivme kazanacağına inanılmaktadır. Çünkü, Batı Sanatı, tarihsel gelişim süreci boyunca başarısını, yabancı kültürlerin yanı sıra, kendi kültürü ve kendi kültürüne yakın kültürlerin etkileşimiyle gerçekleştirmiştir. Ülkemiz coğrafyası da, dünyanınköklü medeniyetlerine ev sahipliği yapmış, “kültür varlığı” açısından da dünyanınzengin mirasına sahiptir. Bu miras, ülkemizdeki genç sanatçı adaylarına, çalışmalarında ışık tutacak ve onları uluslararası düzeye taşıyacak birçok özelliklere sahiptir. The development of the modern art in our country has only a hundred or a hundred and fifty years old background when compared to the West which has the background of hundreds of years. However, so far the Turkish art has reached a level which cannot be underestimated easily. Many artists and philosophers, who are known at international area, have been grown up in our country. In spite of all these developments, the Turkish art hasn’t reached the level that it deserves and our artists haven’t produced an international “masterpiece”.   Artistic activities and the institutions which give art education in our country are mostly limited to the big cities such as Ankara, İstanbul and İzmir, until recently. This situation caused in artists’ not to pay enough attention towards Anatolia which can be defined as the culture transformer of the country, not to be able to be fed by their own culture and  not to get in enough interaction with their culture. It is believed that, there is going to be constituted a bridge and an interaction among Anatolia, İstanbul and the West, and this is going to be resulted in a new rise in the Turkish art by the help of the dissemination of artistic activities and the institutions which give art education to the cities in Anatolia. Because, Western Art has realised its success during its historical development, period by interacting with its own culture and the similar cultures besides the different ones.   Our country is constituted in an area which hosted many deep-rooted civilizations in the past and so it has the richest inheritance of “cultural assets” in the world. This inheritance would be a guide for the young artist candidates in their works and carry them to the international level.

The development of contemporary art, despite the hundreds of years of history of the West, in our country, has a process of about a hundred to fifty years. Nevertheless, today, the point where the Turkish Art has arrived has reached a level that cannot be underestimated at all. In our country, many internationally recognized artists and thinkers have grown up. However, despite all these developments, the Turkish Art has not yet reached the place it deserves at the international level; our artists have not been able to show up a "price" at the international level. In our country, the fact that art events and institutions that provide art education, until a recent past, have been limited to major cities such as Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, has led artists not to have sufficient interest in Anadolu, the carrier of the country’s culture, not to have sufficient nutrition from their roots, not to have sufficient interaction with their cultures. As the art events and institutions that provide art education are now spreading to many cities of Anadolu, it is believed that a new bridge between Anadolu and Istanbul and the West will be established, a new interaction, and as a result, the development of Turkish Art at the international level will gain a new momentum. Because, Western Art has achieved its success throughout the historical development process, by the interaction of foreign cultures, as well as its own culture and cultures close to its own culture. Our country’s geography has also hosted the world’s civilizations, and has a world’s rich heritage in terms of “cultural existence”. This heritage has many qualities that will keep the light of the young artist candidates in our country, their works and bring them to the international level.
